Internet Circuit Upgrades (CANCELLED)

DUE TO A LAST MINUTE SCHEDULING PROBLEM THIS UPGRADE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SOME TIME EARLY IN THE NEW YEAR. WE WILL POST A NEW NOTICE WHEN WE HAVE CONFIRMED A NEW SCHEDULE.

Internet Network Circuit Upgrade

EPI will be upgrading our connections to the Internet during the week of December 12th, 2011. This upgrade replaces our existing 100 Mbps circuits with new multi-channel gigabit speed circuits. This upgrade will occur in two phases:
  • Phase 1 will take place on Tuesday, December 13th when we will upgrade our emergency stand-by backup circuits. No traffic delays associated with this upgrade are expected.

  • Phase 2 will take place on Wednesday, December 14th when we will upgrade our primary circuits. EPI anticipates two brief traffic delays associated with this switchover. The first will occur at approximately 6:00AM EST when we manually shift all Internet traffic to our backup circuits. This will allow technicians to work on our primary circuits without interrupting our normal traffic flows. A second brief delay may occur early Thursday morning when we transfer traffic back to our primary circuits.

Clients should also anticipate some brief periods of traffic delays when EPI retests the BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) rules that are used to handle critical service interruptions. Currently, testing is scheduled for Thursday December 15th between the hours of 4:00AM and 6:00AM EST. Tests will each involve three to four simulated circuit failures with each test resulting in brief delays in traffic delivery.
